African Young Birder of the Week - 26 January 2024

We are proud to announce our next African Young Birder of the week for 2024.

This feature aims to showcase content from each of the featured birders, allowing us to celebrate young birding talent across the continent. Please share this post to spread the word about these amazing birders!

This feature is always done in proud collaboration with Young Wildlife Photographers of Southern Africa.

This week's Young Birder of the Week is Alex Hutton.

We asked him 6 questions to get to know him better.

Where are you from? Johannesburg, Gauteng, South Africa

How old are you? 17 years old

How long have you been birding? About 3 years. But started to take it seriously this year.

Do you keep a life list? 5. Yes, I started my life list at the beginning of this year (2023)

It's currently on 235.

What's your favorite bird/s? White-starred robin

What makes birding so awesome? When the time and effort into spotting a lifer finally pays off. And the incredible opportunities to make meaningful connections with like minded people.
