Pabala is a remarkable Private Nature Reserve that features three (3) eco-biomes, close to the Baviaans Mega Reserve (world heritage site) in the malaria free Eastern Cape.
Pabala is located between Loerie and Hankey in the Gamtoos Valley (Gamtoos meaning ‘Roaring Lion’).

Apart for the eco-biomes Pabala also offers nature reserve plains that bring forth a different feathered buddies for our viewing. During June 2023 Eastern Cape Birding visited the Reserve and spotted a whopping 148 species of birds in just 24 hours.
