Nestled amongst the brachystegia woodland, Dzalanyama Forest Lodge is a quaint and cozy eco-friendly property. With a combination of en-suite chalet accommodation and original rooms in the house both en-suite and with sharing bathroom facilities. There's a large porch overlooking a stream and small waterfall, a well equipped kitchen providing for self-catering and full board guests, a lounge and fireplace, courtyard and eco campsite with hot-water showers.

Dzalanyama Forest Lodge is the only accommodation in Dzalanyama Forest Reserve. Peculiarly localized species inhabit the woodlands surrounding the lodge, with accessible walking and hiking routes. Just 40km South East of the Capital City, Lilongwe - Dzalanyama Forest covers an impressive 989.35sq km of mountain range between the border of Malawi and Mozambique and reaches altitudes between 1100m to 1650m. This secretive and expansive forest reserve is one of Malawi's premier Miombo birding localities, an ornithologists delight with species such as the Miombo Pied Barbet, Boulder Chat, White-Tailed blue Flycatcher, Black-eared Seedeater, Stierlings Woodpecker, Racket-Tailed Roller, Miombo Grey Tit, Pale billed Hornbill, Red winged Warbler, Souz's Shrike, and Bohms Flycatcher.

Our accommodation venue offers a range of facilities and conditions tailored for birders. We have bird guides available both at our venue and in the immediate surrounding area. Guests can access updated bird lists, available both in printed form and on our website, ensuring you have the latest information on local bird species. We also provide venue and trail maps, available in printed form and online, to help you navigate the area.

For vehicle accessibility, a normal sedan (2x4 vehicle) is sufficient. We offer up-to-date field guide books for guests to use during their stay.  Guests are welcome to explore the area through self-drive option, and walking trails are available to enhance the  birding experience.
